A Personal Concept of Heroism in the Everyday Life

A Personal Concept of Heroism
in the Everyday Life

Sometimes heroes don’t certainly do something that’s big, sometimes even the small practices of doing good we call it as a hero and one does not have to save the world or win a gold medal just to call him or her a “hero”. Sometimes the greatest acts of heroism are the result of thousands of small acts that ripple out to affect millions. Example is when our neighbor who is a taxi driver, got a bag that is full of money, it is from the foreigner who is his passenger last night. Instead of keeping and using it for his own needs, he returned the money that the foreigner left and he went to the nearest police station and asked if someone complained that he lost his bag, then there it is, the foreigner cried because that’s his savings, the foreigner thank our neighbor and offered him a work in the other country. As you can see and observed, the taxi driver just returned the money of the foreigner, but it has a big impact to the foreigner because it's his savings and to the people around him because they realized that there is such taxi driver who is very honest and kind. Another illustration is when I was going to school, I saw a boy who snatched a cellphone from a girl, and the girl was too shocked to make a move and there’s someone who is brave enough to shout that “kawatan!” “kawatan!” and he pursued the thief. I don’t know if the thief was arrested, but what the man did is considered for me as a hero because not everyone is brave enough to do such thing because most of us are afraid to be in trouble. Everyone's a hero in their own way, just like my parents who’s a one call away if I need help, and also when their friends need help. My mom is my hero or as I called it my “Supermom, I knew how hard to take care the 3 of us, and she’s the only one does take care of us because my father has a work. I’ve witnessed all her ups and downs because we are young before we are so ignorant and we didn’t realize that being a mother is a huge and a hard task. She’s there always, whenever we are stressed, she will be there and cook for us our favorite snacks and saying “Kaya na Ninyo” and we are very thankful that God gave us mother like this and we love her so much. And to our papa who’s always there to advise and motivate us whenever we are so down in our life by saying “Nakaya man gane nako, kamo pa kaha, and we are so grateful to have them and we super-duper love them.
